As I finished setting up 1 section of my house, I decided to get ready to sleep. But all of a sudden, I discovered an another house that is fully lit. And they’re using conventional goods that are defective by design. Not sure they’re relying on renewable sources. It’s a nightmare if we don’t rely on renewable energy. One of my neighbors just started believing in fairies since a few days ago. But all of the other villagers are asleep early. That’s when I started taking a night hike. I continued riding my big white mouse, Amy. Joe is walking down the empty streets where cars and trucks are scarce. These biking streets has been established for this old town. It’s open-source town that is slowly growing. That’s when Amy And I start running towards this black house down the street. It’s going to be a long ride all right; but I’m trying out my new white mouse that I can ride!
As we went there, we met 4 villagers who have trouble reducing power, they tried to turn off some of these lights, but 1 person kept turning them back on. We started talking to these villagers about a problem what we also discovered. Mr.Oscar, and Ms. Ferris are just trying to keep their energy bills low. Jim and Jannett are just playing chess outside. But 1 person isn’t outside. We asked them if we can take a closer look of their house for further analysis.
As soon we had permission from Mr. Oscar and Ms. Ferris; we went inside.
We can see lots of lights turned on as we went through the door! The kitchen light is on, the tea room light is on, the hallway light is on, the parlor light is on, the bathroom light is on, the dining room light is on, and the playroom light is on. Only 2 rooms had their lights turned off. Amy: “The owners of this house are right! these lights are left on.” “That’s the first clue, someone might be afraid of the dark,” I said. Amy can see the little person at the another bedroom. That was Louie, the little boy who has trouble sleeping. We can see his toys that are lined up on the wall. They’re the same toys that i had at my place. And he had a theme of a lit environment. But that’s just the regular wallpaper what his mother Ms. Ferris gave to him when he’s a little baby. It was used to decorate his old room in the old apartment where they used to live since long time ago. Louis: “Amy, why you are turning off the lights? I had trouble sleeping without light, I won’t able to sleep.” Amy tries to help him sleep. That’s when I grabbed some tarts what Mr. Oscar baked for me. Amy: “Looks like you’re afraid of a dark. I has something that will help you sleep at night without that kind of light that you’re using. I had a night lite that will allow little light to light up your room.” She gave him a plug-in night lite that will be placed on the wall outlet. Louie just plugged it up.He turned on the night light as Amy turned off the main light. Louie: “What’s a night light?” Amy: “It’s a light that is built to use less power. I generates little light for your room. Some children have fear of darkness,–just like you.” Louie just went to his custom-built bunkbed to sleep. Louie: “Good night, Amy!” Amy just left Louie’s room as I grabbed my box of tarts. I continued riding Amy, and we went out the door. We told Mr. Oscar and Ms. Ferris about a problem what we just solved. They gave us a big thanks for resolving this issue.
Amy and I started hiking down the biking street. We are finding some houses that are trying to reduce energy. We can see 2 other houses that are dim already. Well 1 of the other houses are still on. Maybe there’s something is wrong with their lighting that is not responding to their controls. But we’re not sure what’s going on, we have to investigate the another issue that is different.
As we reached this house in question; we met some workers who are working inside this house that is getting upgrades,–so it can rely on renewable energy. We can see lots of lights that are turned on. Well, this house is still connected to the coal-burning plant. However, parts of this building has it’s lights turned off. But 1 worker is still leaving the lights on.
As we went inside this library, 1 worker has left his lights on while he’s on his computer that doesn’t even use open-source technology. His machine is defective, what a nightmare! We told him to turn off the lights to reduce energy. We started showing him these night lights that he can install in this library. He told us about the lights that are turn on are used to reflect the lit theme. But he actually polluting our planet. We decided to turn off some of these lights to reduce energy for this house.
As we left the library; we found the another clue that reflected this issue what we’re currently investigating. We just found the lantern that was used to travel at night. It does have oil inside for fuel. But this fuel type isn’t renewable. It was left on. Some people are relying on renewable sources for energy. This old lantern can be revamped into something new. If conventional oil is replaced with olive oil, it can be used as an alternative to fossil-fuel. Almost all of these houses are dim,–so everyone can see the stars at night. If we can resolve this kind of issue,–regarding pollution, and nyctophobia; the fairy queen will appear in our village, and our dreams of choosing renewable sources will be saved.
Amy and I just stopped at the computer shop; we can see lots of workers choosing open-source technology over closed-source technology. This endless rise of open-source communities has left conventional closed-source technology in the dust.Amy: “Wow! Looks like they’re choosing open-source software for their computers. What a dream!” “That’s a big change for this town,” I said. Amy: “You are correct, this big switch has been running for years in this town. DRM-protected content has been polluting this town for years. That’s why they boycotted these DRM-infected products. Almost 44% of our town just successfully made a giant change. It’s a nightmare if we had DRM everywhere.” I replied: “Tonight, the percentage is at 66% notch, and climbing.” Amy just discovered the another store that is recalling all goods that are DRM-protected. We ran towards this store; the news crew has documented the largest recall ever. It’s beyond worse nightmare for consumers. These villagers are relying on renewable resources by 500%. We ran towards the subway station that is still lit, however; it relies on renewable LED light systems. These lights are adjusted by the renewable automated computer, it only uses open-source software, hardware, and devices. The train system is also using open-source technology. Their fully-functional data center has already reduced carbon by 900%. But their old unwanted software that is infected with DRM must be carted away from this town. These disks containing unwanted content are taking a trip to the recycling center to be wiped, and turned into new material. Wiping these disks is necessary for this facility because, they don’t want to infect their machines, and cause a large nightmare in our village. This facility can break up lots of disk in just 3 minutes. It ranges from floppies, to Optical Discs. We can see the recycling center that is filled with activists who wanted open-source technology for their community. Nobody wants DRM in this village. The king and queen within an open-source community has planned to ban DRM from this town. About 99% of these villagers had wished for it,–for a long time.
Amy and I went to the old abandon book store. We found the another clue. It was a tabletop lamp that is used to light up the dining room. It was recalled because it has too much defects. “Wow! This giant recall of these infected goods has caused our leaders in this village to propose a ban against DRM,” I said. Amy: “Now we get it! Louie was using a defective lighting system that is not open-source, but we introduced an open-source solution for him, and his family. The worker on his computer was relying on non-renewable sources. And a giant recall of DRM-infected goods. Right now,we can see other villagers improving their old town.” “That’s why I chosen open-source for my lifestyle. I’ve just setup my house to rely on open-source goods,” I said. Amy and I sped back to our house to get ready to sleep.
As we reached our house, we went to our mailbox to check our messages. However, we had a package that is mailed from our villagers. We opened a package to see what’s inside. It was a new custom-style countertop portable oven for baking tarts for tea.
After we placed our new countertop oven in the tea room; we went to our bunks to sleep. These night lights in my house are dim, after 90 minutes, these lights turn off to save energy. Other houses had their night lights on too! The entire town is dimmed. And the pollution levels is going down.
During sunrise; we are enjoying some berry tarts with eggless French toast. We’re also drinking tea with our breakfast. Amy is reading the newspaper. Amy: “listen to this! The entire town has boycotted DRM all the way. Everybody were so happy about this change because, their nightmare was finally over.” I replied: “DRM is the top pollutant that’s been polluting our creative world. Although, pollution comes in any forms, such as leaving your conventional lights on, loud noise, oil refineries, garbage being thrown in water and buried underground, leaving your car engine on, factory-farming, and technological measures. If this kind of pollution continues, our world will be a mess!” “Reducing energy is the must to stop global-warming. If windmills are built in the cold environment, and the coal-plant is shutdown, people who are living in the colder climate will rely on wind energy, I added. Amy: “You are correct! Saving our planet is important. Eating meat can also cause climate change. Choosing a vegetarian, or a complete vegan diet can help farmed animals escape from cruelty. Since you are a vegetarian; you are not eating these common creatures that are raised for meat, such as; cows, chickens, ducks, pigs, hogs, geese, turkeys, deer, elk, and other animals. Some vegetarians,–like you eat fish in their diet, as long seafood is sustainable” I ran towards the night light that is turned off. Thanks to the configuration that is used to automate the light system. If the main lights of the house are off for a month, the carbon levels will be reduced. Amy just finished her breakfast. I hopped on Amy’s back and start riding her out the door to explore the garden that is 5 houses away.
As we got there; we started gathering some vegetables, and fruit. These villagers are growing their own food as a backup food source for their village. These plants are organic,–thanks to gardeners who are using compost. The well water is safe to drink and use for everyday use.
After we gathered some plant-based food; we went back to our house to fill our freezer. This unit has an LED light that is built to light up the compartment. The fan system is built to blast cold air,–allowing the lower section to cool faster. And it regenerates energy to power the compressor.
As we are sorting our food, we are filling up the entire freezer with vegetarian meals. It can take a long time for us to finish up our task. It’s a wonderful dream if we continued a vegetarian diet. Amy: “We’re going to make a giant veggie mix for our tonight’s dinner, if we can keep our food plant-based; we’ll be healthy!” I replied: “This village was dreaming about a vegetarian diet for years.” Amy: “I’m also a vegetarian too! Back in the days, we used to live in the apartment building. You were a vegetarian who only ate veggie products.” The freezer is full, we closed it up,–so it can hold the cold air. We had an Icebox that relies on dry ice to cool down these compartments,–all without electricity. That can be useful for emergencies. If the power goes out, our food won’t go bad.
Meanwhile; we went to the cellar to check the water heater,–to varify if it’s doing it’s job. The built-in regenerative fan prevents the water heater’s power box from overheating. Heat from the power box is used to heat the existing revamped water heater to keep hot water in sync. We removed the bad power box, and recycled it as we install the new power box. It’s built to generate more heat. Thanks to the use of the fan that regenerates power for the heating element. The old broken gas boiler that is used for heat is only using electricity. Well, this is a revamped boiler that doesn’t hog the entire room. It will be used during the fall.
Hours later; we started going to the front yard of this house to start these planter boxes where our bean plants will be growing,–this backup plan enables us to keep our extra supply of food for later. Amy: “Let’s plant lots of beans for our bean dinner tonight.” “These other planters are going to be useful,” I said. I inserted some beans inside the planter as Amy inserted soil. The beans are watered,–so they can grow. If these stalks grew large enough, new beans will grow too! It may take some time. We went back to our house to start a bean dinner.
While we’re enjoying our dinner; we decided to watch for these night lights to turn on. We can see some stars in the sky. And these houses are dim. But these street lamps are on. These gatherers are about to sleep later. We can see the fairy queen flying in the sky. Maybe she’s granting wishes for anyone!
After our dinner, we decided to sleep. That’s when our lights are off. We also kept our doors locked as a safety feature. The audio-book player is playing an open-source book. If it’s done playing, it turns off.
The outdoor night lights are on,–so people who are riding their bikes can see in the dark. This peaceful village is asleep.
